Customer Spotlight

A world class manufacturer of custom tooling, wear parts, specialty components, and machining of tungsten carbide, tool steel, and ceramic.

Elizabeth Carbide

Visitors to Latrobe, PA are often impressed by the stately architecture of the 160 year old Saint Vincent Basilica, or the fact that nearby St. Vincent College hosts the World Champions Pittsburgh Steelers training camp.

Few appreciate the fact that right next door, a 25,000 square foot facility is home to Elizabeth Carbide Components, a world class manufacturer of custom tooling, wear parts, specialty components, and machining of tungsten carbide, tool steel, and ceramic.

Elizabeth Carbide serves many industries both in the USA and around the world, making the tool parts that keep their client’s companies in production. “We make custom-made tool and die parts, mainly out of carbide,” explained Sales Engineer Mark Moore. “Right now the oil industry is a big customer, as exploration for new sources of oil is picking up.” Even a famous battery company, whose image is based on dependability, relies on Elizabeth Carbide for some of their high-wear forming parts.

An impressive equipment list is overshadowed only by Elizabeth Carbide’s skilled workforce, some of the most experienced and highly trained toolmakers in the world. Finishes up to 2 micro-inches are common, and company sponsored education and training continues to make Elizabeth Carbide’s people some of the finest in their field.

Elizabeth Carbide Components moved to Latrobe in 1975 and is a subsidiary of Elizabeth Carbide Die Company, whose own 50 year success story began in Elizabeth Township.
